UTM Builder
Pick the platform, fill in the parameters and copy the finished URL, lowercased, accent-free and space-free. Includes dynamic templates for Google Ads and Meta Ads.
Final URL
This URL already has utm_ parameters.
Google Ads dynamic parameters
Paste into the campaign's URL options: Google swaps {campaignid}, {keyword} and {creative} for the real values at click time.
A campaign, term or content typed in the form replaces {campaignid}, {keyword} and {creative}; leave them blank and Google fills them in on every click.
Meta Ads dynamic parameters
Paste into the ad's URL parameters field in Ads Manager: Meta swaps the double-brace codes for the real campaign, ad set and ad names.
A campaign, content or term typed in the form replaces {{campaign.name}}, {{ad.name}} and {{adset.name}}; left blank, the dynamic codes stay.

How to use the UTM builder
- Paste the landing page URL and pick the platform at the top; the preset fills in utm_source and utm_medium with the most common values.
- Fill in utm_campaign with the campaign name and, when it helps, utm_term and utm_content. Normalization makes everything lowercase, accent-free and space-free.
- Copy the final URL or, for Google Ads and Meta Ads, the templates with dynamic parameters, which the platforms fill in on every click.
- Save the combination as a template to repeat the same convention in the next campaign without retyping everything.
Why standardize your UTM naming?
GA4's traffic source reports treat case, accents and spaces as different values: Facebook, facebook and fb become three separate rows, and one campaign shows up sliced into pieces. When everyone on the team tags links their own way, adding up a channel's results becomes manual work and a source of analysis errors.
The fix is a single convention: everything lowercase, accent-free, spaces replaced by one fixed separator, and the same source and medium names across every campaign. That is what this builder applies automatically, and saved templates help keep the standard in place as the team grows.
The five UTM parameters
Every campaign URL takes the same five parameters. The first two are the minimum for the visit to be attributed correctly:
- utm_source
google
Identifies where the traffic comes from: the site, platform or list that produced the click. It's the most important parameter for tying the session to the campaign. - utm_medium
cpc
The type of media: cpc for paid search, paid for paid social, email for mailings. GA4 uses this value to group channels in its reports. - utm_campaign
summer_2026_nyc
The campaign name. Use the same value across every channel of the push so you can compare performance side by side. - utm_term
running_shoes
Optional. Born for the paid search keyword; on social, use it to record the audience or the ad set. - utm_content
top_banner
Optional. Tells creatives, formats or placements of the same ad apart; useful in A/B tests and for knowing which email link was clicked.
Frequently asked questions
Do UTM parameters hurt SEO?
No, as long as the page keeps its canonical tag pointing to the clean URL, the default setup in most CMSs. The parameters only label the click; use them in ads and emails, never in your site's internal links.
What's the difference between gclid and UTM?
The gclid is an automatic code Google Ads appends to the URL to integrate with Analytics and conversion tracking. UTMs are manual and human-readable, work on any platform, and stay useful even with gclid active. One doesn't replace the other.
Where are saved templates stored?
In the device's own local storage. There is no account and no sync: on another computer or browser, the list starts empty.
Do I need utm_term and utm_content?
No, both are optional. Use utm_term to record the keyword or audience and utm_content to tell creatives and link positions apart; if there's nothing to differentiate, leave them blank.
